A Hasidic Jewish man convicted of participating in the gang assault that left a gay black man blinded in his right eye spent less than 30 minutes in a Brooklyn holding cell on Monday after a judge increased his bail.

On Friday, Brooklyn Supreme Court Justice Danny Chun found Mayer Herskovic, 23, guilty of second-degree gang assault, unlawful imprisonment and menacing charges after lengthy bench trial.

Justice Chun ordered Herskovic to return to court Monday morning to increase his bail amount since his conviction carries a mandatory range of three and a half- to 15-year prison sentence.

It was increased from $50,000 to $150,000 bond.

The vicious beating in front of 475 Flushing Ave. on Dec. 1, 2013 stopped after two good Samaritans came to Taj Patterson’s aid.

DNA found on Patterson’s sneaker, that was tossed to the roof of the building, matched Herskovic’s.

On Monday, Herskovic was handcuffed and placed into the holding cell adjacent to Justice Chun’s courtroom after his bail was increased but the bail bondsman quickly cleared the bond.

Herskovic exited the courtroom at 10:11 a.m. with his family and was ordered back to court for sentencing on Nov. 14.

Asked about his conviction, Herskovic told reporters that he wasn’t happy with the “bias reporting.”

Four other defendants — Pinchas Braver, Abraham Winkler, Joseph Fried and Aaron Hollender — had their cases dismissed or pleaded guilty to lesser charges.
