Rockland County, Nearing a Breaking Point – Perhaps over-development is the problem [video]

A Tale of Two Rocklands

Note to readers:

The video is quite long, as is the write-up by its creators: “Clarkstown What They Don’t Want You to Know” a FB page.

CWTDWYTK has more recently been the subject of attempts by the New York political machine, including Attorney General Tish James to stymie criticism that could be viewed as anti-Semitic, without so much as a review of the subject matter of the posts.

As always, admittedly, the comments can vicious but the administrators on the page have done their best to limit anything that could be viewed as hate-speech.

Given the uptick in violence against Jewish communities, particularly those who have made themselves both excluded and visible, it might be time for us to look at the socio-economic, political and cultural makeup of the people within Rockland County to see where steps can be taken to bridge gaps. It is not anti-Semitism that has guided an uptick in violence, at least not in Rockland County. Rather than invoking an all-too-used familiar mantra of anti-Semitism, it might be time to put on our big-boy pants and start analyzing problems and coming up with solutions. Enforcing zoning laws might be a start.

Anti-Semitism as a cause celebre for allowing behavior that would otherwise be deemed wholly unacceptable has taken on a life of its own.

The video was initially posted in 2 parts on the FB site. We are reposting the write-ups about the video and invite you to see the page by clicking here.

A Not-Quite-Platinum Result – Huberfeld Sentenced to 30 Months and $19M

Southern District of New York

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Hedge Fund Founder Sentenced To 30 Months In Connection With Bribery Of Former Correction Officers Union Leader

Geoffrey S. Berman, the United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York, announced today that MURRAY HUBERFELD was sentenced to 30 months in prison for his role in a scheme to submit false paperwork to Platinum Partners (“Platinum”), a hedge fund founded by HUBERFELD, in order to facilitate a bribe to Norman Seabrook, the former president of the nation’s largest municipal correction officers union.  HUBERFELD previously pled guilty to conspiring to commit wire fraud and thereby causing Platinum to fund a $60,000 bribe payment to Seabrook, which HUBERFELD intentionally concealed by falsely documenting the payment as one for courtside tickets to New York Knicks basketball games.  As a result of the bribe, Seabrook caused the investment of millions of dollars of union funds into Platinum. Today’s sentence was imposed by U.S. District Judge Alvin K. Hellerstein.

Manhattan U.S. Attorney Geoffrey S. Berman said:  “Not content with being a successful businessman, Murray Huberfeld sought to grow his fund through fraud and deception, playing a critical role in a pernicious kickback scheme.  His conduct was not only corrupt and criminal, but led to the loss of millions of dollars of union retirement benefits.  The sentence imposed today reflects the magnitude of his crimes and untold pain his conduct caused to others.”

According to the Superseding Information, Superseding Indictment, Indictment, and Complaint filed in this case, other public filings, statements made during the plea proceeding, and evidence and testimony presented at trial proceedings in the fall of 2017 and the summer of 2018:

HUBERFELD was a founder of Platinum, a hedge fund that he had founded and continued to control unofficially even after his formal affiliation with the fund had ceased.  In late 2013, HUBERFELD and Jona Rechnitz, an acquaintance and real estate businessman, sought to attract public and institutional investors to the fund.  In late 2013, Rechnitz told HUBERFELD that a contact of his – Norman Seabrook president of the Correction Officers’ Benevolent Association (“COBA” or the “Union”) – would likely invest COBA money in Platinum if HUBERFELD were willing to pay Seabrook money.  Over the next few months, Seabrook caused COBA to invest approximately $20 million of its funds into Platinum, including $15 million from a retirement benefits program funded by the City of New York that invests money for correction officers’ retirements.

In or around December 2014, arrangements were made to pay Seabrook for the millions of dollars the Union had invested over the course of that year.  Rechnitz paid Seabrook $60,000 in cash, delivered to Seabrook in a men’s luxury handbag.  HUBERFELD and Rechnitz arranged for Platinum’s management company to receive a fraudulent invoice for $60,000 – generated by Rechnitz – that, on its face, billed Platinum for seven pairs of courtside tickets to New York Knick games given to Platinum by Rechnitz, who owned Knicks season tickets.  In truth, and as HUBERFELD knew, the reason given to Platinum was false, and no Knicks tickets had changed hands.  The real purpose of the payment was to reimburse Rechnitz, who had paid Seabrook for his efforts in securing COBA’s investments.  Three days later, Platinum issued Rechnitz a $60,000 check.  Over the next few months, Rechnitz, HUBERFELD, and Jeremy Reichberg, another co-conspirator, continued to work together to lobby Seabrook for more money.  However, after a lawsuit filed by a former COBA board member referred to the Platinum investments, and the U.S. Attorney’s Office grand jury investigation resulted in subpoenas to Platinum and COBA in May 2015, no further investments were made.  Ultimately, Platinum collapsed, and COBA lost $19 million of its investment.

Seabrook was convicted of honest services fraud and conspiracy on August 18, 2018, after a 10-day trial in Manhattan federal court.  On February 8, 2019, Judge Hellerstein sentenced Seabrook to 58 months in prison and ordered him to pay restitution in the amount of $19 million.

On January 2, 2019, Reichberg was found guilty of honest services fraud, conspiracy, and obstruction of justice in connection with a separate scheme in which he and Rechnitz provided gifts and benefits to a number of high-level officers of the New York City Police Department (“NYPD”) in exchange for official police action for themselves and their associates.  He is due to be sentenced by U.S. District Judge Gregory H. Woods on April 4, 2019.

In addition to the prison term, HUBERFELD, 58, of Lawrence, New York, was sentenced to three years of supervised release, and ordered to pay restitution in the amount of $19 million.

Mr. Berman praised the investigative work of the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the NYPD Internal Affairs Division.

This case is being handled by the Office’s Public Corruption Unit.  Assistant United States Attorneys Martin S. Bell, Russell Capone, and Lara Pomerantz are in charge of the prosecution.

Threats Against Bloggers By a Community that Does not Want the Truth to Come to Light – Keeping Their Own in Darkness…

SILENCING TRUTH – HIDING DARKNESS… HARASSMENT AND THREATS

We are fully reposting from  a facebook post on Clarkstown What They Don’t Want You to Know (Clarkstown, New York) They have sited to a site called “Rise Up Ocean County” Threats and harassment appear to be the modus operandi of anyone attempting to silence scrutiny. Shoot the messenger if you cannot shoot down the message.

It should be noted that over the last 48 hours the blogger now associated with LostMessiah has been threatened, harassed and had her personal information left in the comments section of various articles. That last one we decided to delete, with the full expectation that it will be thrown out there again.

One can only imagine, if this is the way those feeling threatened within the ultra-Orthodox community respond to websites and posts that bring darkness within their community to light, then how do they treat those from within that community who want to escape, those who have gone off the derech (OTD). We are raised in supportive families and communities.

Many from within who want to leave, become entirely isolated. It’s something to think about.

A Documentary About Ocean County, New Jersey In The Year 2030 Stirs Religiously Based Protests And Threats Of Violence

In what could be called an embarrassing case of “premature denunciation”, some decidedly anti-First Amendment persons have condemned the documentary ‘Ocean County 2030’ produced by the admins of the Facebook page “Rise Up Ocean County” which has not yet been released and the protestors have not yet seen.

This grandiose and infantilizing “We will decide for all of you what can be discussed in our community” attempt at a religiously-based power grab will take the form of a so called “multi-faith” press conference.

The ‘Rise Up Ocean County’ Facebook group has been growing it’s numbers and truth telling on a level that has taken the corrupt powers in NJ completely by surprise.

They seem genuinely frightened by the political awakening going on among the citizenry.

Rather than debate the facts, the bloc puppets seem to be debating whether the facts can be debated at all.

Given this documentary has not been released we will not comment on its content or message, but we can say in the general sense that history plays out with the corrupt trying to take away the rights of the abused at the exact moment when the abused decide to articulate their mistreatment.

We here at CWTDWYTK feel for those abused by the anti-goyim behaviors of the Frum Supremacists gathering in parts of NJ. The residents of Rockland County are also experiencing similarly painful mistreatment being called on a daily basis “anti-Semites” and worse.

Therefore, we wish RUOC well in exposing to a wider audience the abuse they have been suffering by the bad behaviors of those unfortunately suffering from a debilitating bondage of their minds.

We too have seen some of these manipulative, yet laughable, “press conferences” in Rockland County where ill-mannered elected officials, such as Legislator Aron Wieder, step to a live microphone and with little education, no skills, and no facts, try to play victim politics.

We suspect the New Jersey bloc operatives and bloc puppets when they have to verbally fend for themselves will prove equally inept.

Therefore we wish the admins of RUOC good luck in continuing to exercise their right to free speech and we join them in their refusal to be coerced into silence by religious zealots.

As soon as the Ocean County 2030 documentary is available we will publish it for the citizens of Rockland County to discuss.

Here is the “Press Advisory” calling all to apparently pray together for the end of free speech …….

Rise Up Ocean County

On the heels of Lakewood passing a resolution opposing the efforts of Rise Up Ocean County and referring to us as anti-Semitic and in the aftermath of being labeled a hate group that hides behind the anonymity of a Facebook page by Lakewood Mayor Ray Coles in the latest edition of Mizrachi magazine, we were contact via Facebook messenger by Steven Wagner. After reviewing his page he seems to be a legitimate user with ties to guns. His initial message involved a series of photographs, our reply was to ask why he was sending them to us.His answer was “Because you should know, as Virulent Antisemites, not all of us are “Black Hats”…..Some of us are Secular Militant Hebrew Combat Veterans”When we asked if he was implying that secular militant Hebrew combat veterans meant to do harm to someone his answer was succinct: “I’ve been to Prison and Don’t Mind Going Back, McDouche!”This is not the first bit of hate mail that we have received but he also included a link to the story about Lakewood passing their resolution and a multi-faith press conference scheduled for Jackson on Wednesday February 13, 2019.To our knowledge no one in our group has ever suggested violence against anyone, not ever. This is the 26th and most threatening private message that we have received to date.We share this with all of you so that you can understand the lengths to which some have gone to silence us. When elected officials irresponsibly throw gasoline on a fire to satisfy a constituency they should be held to account not only for their actions but the actions that follow.

Rampant Corruption and Israel’s Eroding Core Values, Former Spymasters Speak

Ex-Mossad chief: Israel ‘dangerously sick’ under Netanyahu’s leadership

Five former spymasters say PM eroding country’s core values, decry ‘pervasive’ culture of corruption under his tenure

Five former chiefs of the Mossad spy agency leveled harsh criticism at Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu this week, with one saying that Israel was “dangerously sick” under his leadership.

“I feel so bad about what is happening in the country, the corruption is so deep, so pervasive,” Shabtai Shavit told the Yedioth Ahronoth daily in an excerpt of a joint sit down interview ahead of Independence Day. “There are no red lines, no taboos and add to that the deepening rift among the people.”

Shavit was joined by Zvi Zamir, Nahum Admoni, Danny Yatom, Efraim Halevy and Tamir Pardo in expressing serious concerns about Israel’s future.

“As intelligence people, our most important skill is being able to anticipate the future,” Shavit added. “So I ask myself what kind of country will my grandchildren inherit, and I cannot give an answer to that.”

“It’s a problem of values, of divisions,” Pardo said. “We need leadership that is able to navigate between crises at the right places, but unfortunately, that does not exist today.”

Zamir, the oldest of the group at age 93, fired off the sharpest criticism of Netanyahu, saying the prime minister and his powerful cronies were only serving their own interests.

“I’m not sure that for the prime minister and the senior officials surrounding him that public interests prevail over their personal interests of more money and more power,” he said.

“We are dangerously sick,” he said. “Netanyahu may have inherited a country with symptoms, but he has ushered it into a state of malignant disease.”

Yatom echoed Zamir’s sentiment, saying it was unsurprising that Netanyahu and a growing number of his associates are under investigation for corruption, because they put their own interests ahead of the country’s.

Israel, he warned, was “on a downward spiral,” and called on the prime minister to resign.

In his interview, Halevy criticized Netanyahu, saying his “need for headlines and obsession with his public image verses running the country and managing its security matters is problematic.”

“I think something very bad has happened to leadership in Israel,” he added. “There is a major flaw in the political system that everything that isn’t illegal is kosher.”

88-year-old Admoni said his main concern with Israel today is the growing rift between Israelis, asserting the divide between religious and secular populations was “worse than its ever been.”

“The divide just keeps growing,” Admoni lamented.

Nearly all of the former intelligence officials have publicly censured Netanyahu in the past, though the extensive criticism leveled against him in Yedioth on Tuesday was unprecedented.

The full interview with the six former Mossad chiefs will run in Yedioth’s weekend magazine, 7 Days, on Friday.

Netanyahu is embroiled in several corruption scandals and was questioned again by police on Monday in connection with the Bezeq scandal, known as case 4000.

The probe involves suspicions that Netanyahu, who has served as communications minister for several years over his past two terms as premier, advanced regulatory decisions benefiting Bezeq controlling shareholder Shaul Elovitch in exchange for flattering coverage of the Netanyahus from the Elovitch-owned Walla news site.

In addition to Case 4000, Netanyahu is also suspected of wrongdoing in so-called cases 1000 and 2000, in which police have recommended he be indicted for bribery, breach of trust and fraud.

In Case 1000, Netanyahu and his wife are suspected of receiving illicit gifts from billionaire benefactors, amounting to some NIS 1 million ($282,000) worth of cigars and champagne from the Israeli-born Hollywood producer Arnon Milchan and Australian resort owner James Packer, allegedly in return for certain benefits.

Case 2000 involves a suspected illicit quid-pro-quo deal between Netanyahu and Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper publisher Arnon Mozes that would have seen the prime minister weaken a rival daily, the Sheldon Adelson-backed Israel Hayom, in return for more favorable coverage from Yedioth.

Netanyahu denies wrongdoing in all the cases.
