  1. Now that’s a pic of a guy you would trust with your life, trust him to always do the right thing, right? He looks so humble in the pic, just like the guys from Shas (including the currently-being-reinvestiagted Deri) & the other warring Ultra-O factions. For years now, stand-up satire is very, very hard in Israel, cos the reality trumps whatever you can dream up…

    • “Trumps”… was that a pun intended? Jerusalem, since the days of Teddy Kollek and the old guard, has not really been a hotbed for honest (or even remotely honest) politicians. If we are not mistaken our new Shasnik Jerusalem Mayor is intending upon allowing the ultra-O’s to run wild. Reminiscent of Maurice Sendak…. It is only a matter of time before Israel becomes unsustainable as a theocratic parliamentary democracy. There is even some question if it is not ruled in much the same way as its neighbor states are now. There will be too few educated and too few serving in the army and too much Talmud, welfare and corruption. We suppose an armistice between Israel and the warring countries could be achieved if all of the fundamentalists sat at a table and did an analysis of the Koran versus the principals of the Talmud – a great argument of the sages…. But then there are the warring factions in each religion…. it would get interesting. Ha- Levai’ Inshallah… Hard to tell who would come out ahead. One thing is for certain, if Israel keeps moving right either it will destroy itself or it will get mired in political violent conflict with its neighbors. We really don’t see the Moshiach coming to save the day anytime soon.
