Jona Rechnitz Pleads Guilty

From Forbes:

The man who introduced Seabrook to Huberfeld has already pleaded guilty and is cooperating with federal prosecutors. This confidential informant was a business associate of Huberfeld and came to believe that Huberfeld “ran Platinum and that employees at Platinum answered to Huberfeld.” The Wall Street Journal has identified the intermediary as Jona Rechnitz, a businessman and de Blasio donor who denies wrongdoing. The complaint suggests that Huberfeld’s significant role at Platinum was not publicly acknowledged due to his past legal history. Seabrook and Huberfeld met for the first time in December 2013 at Platinum Partners’ Manhattan offices. Even after the initial union investments, Huberfeld continued to solicit more money from Seabrook. Platinum Partners did not respond to requests for comment.
