The Work Is Done…

I’m Done Answering Questions About Federal Probe, De Blasio Says

SOUTH BRONX — Mayor Bill de Blasio said he’s done talking about the federal probe into his fundraising practices.

“I’m not going to be speaking about this after today,” de Blasio said Monday in The Bronx in response to a series of questions about a growing federal corruption probe that has ensnared high-ranking NYPD officials and raised questions about a nonprofit the mayor used to raise money to promote his political agenda.

The mayor said that businessmen Jeremy Reichberg and Jona Rechnitz, who are under investigation for giving high-ranking NYPD officers cash, gifts and international trips, did not receive any special favors for their role as contributors to de Blasio’s mayoral campaign and to his non-profit, the Campaign for One New York.

“I know of no favorable municipal action they got,” de Blasio said.

  1. There must be something way bigger going on in Jewland that required this level of bribery and schmearing. Drug dealing, smuggling weapons from foreign countries, some massive fraud scheme, etc.
You don’t spend this much on bribery just for an occasional ride to the airport or fixing a parking ticket.

      • Question is, if diamonds were uncertified, how they would get certified in this country or would they have been certified before importation? Presumably, if they are coming in from Angola, Zimbabwe and other countries, they would not be certified and are therefore untraceable. But they need to obtain a providence, as far as we know, in order to be sold on the open market.

      • I imagine the issue is as much about untraceable diamonds as it is about not paying any duty or customs taxes or filing IRS reports. I was at the USPS yesterday and needed to purchase a $1,000 money order. I couldn’t believe it but they required a license and my ss number for a silly money order – and I wasn’t even paying with cash. I was using a credit card. Imagine the scrutiny legitimate diamond dealers go through to imort diamonds, especially with the blood diamnd trade in Africa. Now imagine how much profit can bemade with diamonds that are never declared and how much money can be laundered through selling jewelry and such with those diamonds.

  2. What the hell is going on? What are we missing? All of this just for police escorts of Torahs? Considering that nearly every building he lists on his site isn’t his, Rechnitz doesn’t have enough real estate in his portfolio to need much from city hall. This has to be something far more sinister.
